I promise to show you the final result when I’m finished!
My friend Emily’s birthday was about a month ago, and in true crafter fashion, I decided to make her gift. I’m new-ish to embroidery, but it’s quickly become one of my favorite hobbies and artforms.
She & I are both huge fans of Hayao Miyazaki. We went through a phase of watching his movies far too often to be healthy–most often, we watched Totoro. It’s such a charming and gorgeous film, I recommend it to everyone.
Anyway, I think she likes her gift, so I suppose it wasn’t so bad that I was a month late getting it finished. 😉 (Of course I don’t own the Totoro image or art or anything, I’m just a big fan.)
In vaguely-related embroidery news, my jewelry pieces have been away and on sale at the annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, D. C. It’s a pretty awesome marketplace-style festival, I didn’t even need to be there to sell! My pieces should be coming back sometime next week–the festival closed yesterday, and we have to give them time to re-pack and tally the sales. I’m really excited to see what kind of sales I’ve had!!
Depending on how much of my inventory is gone, FiberLuxe may be closed for a bit longer. This could be a good thing, because I’ve been toying with ideas for brand-new products and I’m excited to get started on them. I’ll keep ya’ll posted!
